Tails of Hawaii was established in 2006 with our Waipio Location. It is owned and operated by Chris and Heather Manuel and often times their three children can be found cleaning up here and there. It is a family business and that family has grown to include many wonderful and dedicated employees. The Waipio Store is managed by Ashley Niibu and the Honolulu location by Krystal DeGuzman. They both do an excellent job of carrying out the mission of Tails of Hawaii.
Mission Statement
We know your pet is an extension of you. It is Tails of Hawaii’s mission to provide peace of mind to pet parents when travel or other obligations
take them away. We provide a well established routine to ensure a balanced and positive experience for all pet personalities. Our facility is always clean and full of love!
The first few months consisted of 1 to 10 dogs in the entire facility. The slow start was good because it provided an opportunity to build a solid foundation for operations. In 2008 Tails opened a second location in Honolulu. Our pack has grown to include over 5000 of our best friends and 35 wonderful Pet Pals.
Pet Pals
We currently have a staff of 35. Each of our pet pals goes training on pet handling and the understanding of dog language yearly. Pet Pals are screened then trained in reading and interpreting “dog language”. Every year recurrent training is conducted. Our staff to dog ratio is kept low to avoid unnecessary injuries. All Pet Pals have the best interest of your pet at hand, we don’t just watch the animals. Socialization and stimulating interactions are a must.
